Franklin Proffit of Jerseyville Obituary

Franklin Proffit, 73, died at 12:31 p.m., Sunday, January 27, 2013 at Jersey Community Hospital after a long and courageous battle with Alzheimers Disease.

He was born on May 4, 1939 in Bradshaw, West Virginia, and was one of nine children born to the late Troy & Nanie (Rowe) Proffit.

On March 31, 1970, Franklin married the former Anna Caudell in Elizabeth City, NC, and together they raised their two daughters in Hampton, Va where Franklin worked as a store manager for Farm Fresh for nearly twenty years before assuming a position with Super Fresh where he retired in 2000 after 10 years of service. He relocated to Jerseyville in 2009, to be closer to his daughter.

Surviving are his two daughters & their spouses, Tammy & John Clendenen of Jerseyville and Stephanie & Nick Angeletos of Ft. Lauderdale, Fl.; six grandchildren, Daniel & Michael Clendenen of Jerseyville, Crystal & Andrew Shattuck and Demetrius & Makenna Angeletos all of Ft. Lauderdale, Fl.; three sisters & brothers in law, Jeanie & Jim Troy of Orlando, Fl., Lorraine & Walt Hanson of Punta Gorda, Fl., and Ruth Roush of Oak Ridge, Tn.; two brothers, Joe Bill Proffit of Vinsant, Va., and Tommy Proffit of Grundee, Va.

In addition to his parents and his beloved wife Anna, he was preceded in death by a sister, Vada Anglin; a brother, Larry Proffit; an infant brother, Thurman Proffit; as well as a grandson, Brandon Clendenen.

The family would like to thank the nursing staff at Jerseyville Manor Nursing Home for their unwavering love and care that they bestowed upon Franklin for the last three years.

Per his wishes, cremation has taken place.

Inurnment will take place at a later date beside his wife at the Parklawn Memorial Park in Hampton, VA.

Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville has been entrusted with these arrangements.
