Everett Raymond Greene, 99, died at 2:10 a.m. on Friday, January 10, 2014 at Alhambra Care in Alhambra, IL. He was born December 29, 1914 in Jefferson County, IL the son of the late Bert and Stella (Clark) Greene. He was a member of the SeaBees during WW II. He retired in 1967 as a machine tender with Alton Box Board. After retirement, he went on to be the owner and operator of the Wood River and Alton Dairy Queen and Raymond’s Gun Shop in Alton and he was a commercial fisherman for years. His passions were hunting, fishing, golfing and the St. Louis Cardinals. On May 10, 1935 in Salem, IL he married Mable M. Cooper and she preceded him in death November 15, 1981. He went on to marry Roanna Simpson and later Selma Leigh, both preceded him in death.

Surviving are one daughter; Karen Haas (Bill) of Godfrey and one son: Mark Greene (Vicki) of Alton, eight grandchildren; Kenneth Coons, Lisa Eiccholz (Matt), Will Haas, Amy Paulda (Dan), Tony Greene, John Greene (Erica), K. Matthew Greene and Brady Greene (Angie), 13 great grandchildren, and one brother; Marion Greene of Alton, and his third wife; Verla Sheetz.

He was preceded in death by one daughter and a son in law; Phyllis and Donald Coons, two sisters; Oleta Garvin and Venita Ogle.

Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until time of funeral services at 10:00 a.m. Monday at Gent Funeral Home in Alton with Reverend Rick Patrick to officiate. Burial will be at Valhalla Memorial Park in Godfrey.

Memorials may be made to Alzheimer’s Association.
