EVELYN WOOLSEY

JERSEYVILLE-  Evelyn Woolsey, 84, died unexpectedly at 6:00 a.m., Sunday, August 16, 2015 at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, Mo. from complications she suffered in a fall the previous day.She was born in Alton on Oct. 24, 1930, and was the daughter of William W. and Beulah Pearl (Hensen) Newman.Evelyn was a devout Christian woman, and was a loyal member of the First Assembly of God in Jerseyville.  She was dedicated to her family in every aspect, was a ardent fan of the St. Louis Cardinals.She married William Thomas "Pete" Woolsey on Jan. 21, 1949 in the parsonage of the First Baptist Church in Jerseyville, and they shared 53 years together before his death on May 23, 2002.Surviving are two daughters & a son in law, Sharon Woolsey of Jerseyville and Judy & Doug Schell of Jerseyville; two sons & a daughter in law, John & Michelle Woolsey of Jerseyville, and Shawn Woolsey of Kane; 14 Grandchildren; 17 Great Grandchildren.In addition to her parents & husband, she was preceded in death by two sons, Kenneth Woolsey & Richard "Chris" Woolsey; a granddaughter, Kristy Woolsey; two sisters, Mary Lois Freand and Ruth Alvarez; a brother, William "Sonny" Newman; and her stepfather, Oscar Frazer.Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m., Wednesday at the Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville.Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m., Thursday at the First Assembly of God in Jerseyville.Burial will be in the Kane Cemetery.Memorials may be given to the First Assembly of God in Jerseyville.
