Evelyn M. Heneghan, 92, died at 4:55 a.m., Friday, May 9, 2014 at Jerseyville Manor Nursing Home.

She was born in Greene County, IL. on June 18, 1921, one of seven children born to the late Lewis & Adelaide (Pranger) Becker.

Evelyn grew up in Carrollton, and as a young lady she worked at the Kroger.

She was a devoted and loyal member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Jerseyville, and served as President of their Altar Society for many years.  In addition to devoted much time volunteering for not only her church, but for Jersey Community Hospital and the Jersey County Home Extension.  She enjoyed quilting, painting and embroidering in her spare time.

She married Lloyd Heneghan on Sept. 9, 1959 at the St. John's Catholic Church in Carrollton, and they shared 53 years together before his death on Oct. 28, 2012.

Surviving are six children & their spouses, Mary Ann Daum of Carrollton, Thomas P. & Donna Heneghan of Paola, Ks., Jeanette & Steve Dean of Quincy, Joseph & Rita Heneghan of Jerseyville, Charlotte Heneghan of Jerseyville, and Linda Kay & Rick Martin of Midwest City, Ok.; 16 Grandchildren; numerous great and great-great grandchildren; two sisters, Mary Lois Rawe of Springfield and Sister Helen Becker of Springfield; a brother & sister in law, Charles & Gertrude Becker of Springfield.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, Marjean Miller; and two brothers, Robert Becker & Melvin Becker.

Visitation will be fro 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at the Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville, with a Prayer Service beginning at 3:30 p.m.

A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 10 a.m., Tuesday at the St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Jerseyville, with Father Patrick Gibbons officiating.

Burial will be in the St. Francis Xavier Cemetery in Jerseyville.

Memorials may be given to the St. Francis/Holy Ghost Catholic Schools of Jerseyville or to Masses.
