Ethel Witschie

Ethel I. Witschie, age 95, of Edwardsville, Illinois died at 7:10 a.m. Wednesday, February 15, 2017, at Eden Village Care Center. She was born June 24, 1921, in rural Edwardsville the daughter of the late Edward H. & Bertha (Steinhage) Engelmann. She married Albert L. Witschie on September 30, 1941, in St. Charles, Missouri. He preceded her in death on November 11, 1990. Ethel is survived by 2 sons, Edward L. Witschie & wife, Marjorie of Edwardsville and Robert J. Witschie of Edwardsville; 1 daughter, Audrey Wannamaker & husband, Mark of Alton; 7 grandchildren; and 4 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by 5 brothers & 2 sisters. Ethel was a lifelong member of Immanuel United Methodist Church in Edwardsville where she was a Quilter. She also enjoyed going to the Senior Citizens at the Main Street Community Center. A memorial visitation will be from 10 a.m. until 12 noon Monday, February 20, 2017, at Weber & Rodney Funeral Home. A memorial service will follow at 12 noon on Monday at the funeral home with Rev. Jackie Havis-Shear officiating. Memorials may be given to Hospice of Southern Illinois or Eden Village Care Center. According to her wishes she was cremated.
