Estella Masinelli

Estella Louise “Stella” Masinelli, 91, passed away at 8:17 a.m. Sunday, April 19, 2015 at Rosewood Care Center in Alton.

  Born Apr. 4, 1924 in Livingston, Ill., she was a daughter of Peter and Esther (Valenti) Arico.

  She married Alfeo Masinelli Sept. 7, 1946.  He preceded her in death Aug. 8, 1991.

  Stella owned and operated Stella’s Beauty Shop in East Alton.  She was a lifelong resident of East Alton and Rosewood Heights.  She loved to paint, and she was an avid dancer and social butterfly.  She was a member of Holy Angels Catholic Church in Wood River.

  Survivors include a daughter, Nancy (Lewis) Mihalich of Dorsey and Richard Masinelli of Lutz, Fla.; grandchildren, Rick Masinelli of Lutz, Rachel Masinelli of New York, Sharon Masinelli and her husband Robert Baeten of Kennesaw, Ga., and Jeff (Jenni) Mihalich of Alton; great grandchildren, Isabella, Christian, Isaac, Leo, Bridget, Jenna, Peter, and Alex; a sister, Ann Heady of O’Fallon, Mo.; and a brother, Tony Arico of Missouri.

  In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Rose Erxleben, and 2 brothers, Peter and Jay Arico.

  Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Wednesday, Apr. 22 at Paynic Home for Funerals in Rosewood Heights.  Father George Radosevich will celebrate a Mass of Christian Burial at 2 p.m. Thursday, Apr. 23 at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Staunton.

  Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery in Staunton.
