Born December 17, 1918 to John and Mae Doerr in Beardstown, Illinois; Ella Bernice passed away Sunday, March 1, 2015 at the age of 96 years. She was preceded in death by her husband Stanley P. Rowden, whom she married in July 1944, and by her daughter Barbara Sherwood. Ella Bernice was the last of her siblings to pass away, but she is mourned by her daughters Judith Kemlitz, Elizabeth Jankowski and her husband Stephen; as well as her grandchildren Melissa Guion and her husband David Guion; Alison Kemlitz and her husband Dr. Josh Feinberg; Benjamin Jankowski and his wife Dr. Gwen Jankowski; and Dr. Natasha Jankowski. Ella Bernice was also able to celebrate the birth of five great grandchildren: Holly Guion, Zachary and Zoe Feinberg, Nadia Jankowski, and Walker Jankowski-Chapman. She had been a life-long member of Twelfth Street Presbyterian Church in Alton. She will be missed by all who knew her, including nieces, nephews, and two sisters-in-law. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until time of funeral service at 12:30 p.m. Saturday, March 7, 2015 at Gent Funeral Home in Alton. Burial will be at Valhalla Memorial Park in Godfrey.
