Elizabeth R. Meszaros, 92, died at 6:40 a.m. Tuesday, September 2, 2014 at Alton Nursing & Rehab. Born March 12, 1922 in Rossford, Ohio, she was the daughter of John and Verona (Gall) Yoo. Mrs. Meszaros was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Alton and retired as Assistant Vice President of the Godfrey State Bank. On September 11, 1944 she married Ernest John Meszaros in Colorado Springs, CO. He preceded her in death on December 28, 1974. Surviving are two daughters, Carol Klaus (Robert) of Alton and Noel Merkel (Dr. James Merkel) of Alton, three grandchildren, Robert Klaus Jr. (Stephanie Rheinheimer) of St. Peters, MO, Ann Westbrook (Paul) of Alton, and Andrew Merkle (Melissa) of Alton, one great grandchild, Genevieve Merkle, numerous nieces and nephews, and a sister-in-law, Loretta Yoe of Sarasota, Florida. Along with her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Yolanda Patyi and Laura Patty, and a brother, William Yoe. Visitation will be from 4:00-8:00 p.m. Thursday, September 4, 2014 at Gent Funeral Home in Alton. A Mass of Christian burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, September 6, 2014 at St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Godfrey. Father Steve Pohlman will officiate.
