Duane L. Grosenheider, 85, passed away at 5:32 pm, on Wednesday, February 20, 2013 at Alton Memorial Hospital.
He was born in New Douglas, IL on October 17, 1927 the son of the late Clarence and Ester Vivian (Foulke) Grosenheider.
Duane married Capitola “Cappy” Diuguid on December 2, 1965. She survives.
He worked at Owens IL Glass and was a member of Faith Lutheran Church. He served his country in the Army and the Merchant Marines. He enjoyed spending time with his family and never met someone who wasn’t a friend.
In addition to his wife he is survived by a daughter and her husband, Teri and Mike Copeland of Maryland Heights, MO; two grandchildren, Linsay Copeland and Nick Copeland; and a brother, Gerald Grosenheider, of Alton. He also cared for his step grandchildren, Rex Harbison, Mark Harbison, and Bill Pace and Karen Pace-Edwards.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and two dearly loved sisters, Loretta and Laverne.
In celebration of his life visitation will be from 10 am till time of service at 12 pm Saturday, Febraury 23, 2012 at the Elias, Kallal & Schaaf Funeral Home in Alton, with Rev. Kelly Mettis officiating.
Burial will follow at the Rose Lawn Memory Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to BJC Hospice of Alton.
