Dr. Eric Douglas Dixon

EDWARDSVILLE-  Dr. Eric Douglas Dixon, 31, died Sunday, January 17, 2016 as the result of injuries sustained in an automobile accident in Alton.He was born in Jerseyville on December 10, 1984, one of three children born to Max Douglas & Susan Diane (Meuth) Dixon.Eric was blessed to be a part of a loving and supportive family, and he returned those blessings to them as well in ways that can not be measured.  He attended St. Francis/Holy Ghost Catholic Schools and graduated in 2003 from Jersey Community High School in Jerseyville, where he was a standout, three sport athlete, participating in basketball, baseball, and football.He attended Lewis & Clark Community College in Godfrey on a baseball scholarship and received his Associates Degree.  He then went on to attend Southeast Missouri State University in Cape Girardeau, Mo., and transferred to Logan College of Chiropractic where he finished his Bachelors in Human Biology.Deciding to follow his love of sports, he simultaneously received his Master of Sport Science and Rehabilitation in addition to his Doctorate of Chiropractic.  In August and December of 2011, Dr. Dixon received his Doctorate of Chiropractic and his Master of Sport Science and Rehabilitation respectively.His professional adventures took him to California where he worked as a team chiropractor for the Los Angeles Clippers and as as consultant for the Arizona Diamondbacks. In 2012, he returned to the area to start his own Sports Chiropractic/Performance Training facility in Edwardsville.  He began SPORTCHIRO+ in November of 2012 and has been practicing ever since. In addition he developed Accelerate Health & Fitness Consulting in Edwardsville, and was in the process of opening another gym in Jerseyville.Eric was determined, focused and had of thoughtful and caring nature.  He strived be the best son, brother, grandson, nephew, cousin and friend that he could be, and took genuine pride in seeing other individuals succeed in both fitness and health, as well as their personal lives.  He was very honored and excited to have been recently invited to be part of the Chiropractic team for the St. Louis Cardinals.Surviving are his parents, Max & Susan Dixon of Jerseyville; a sister, Lindsay Dixon of Jerseyville; a brother, Alex Dixon of Jerseyville; his grandparents, Cletus and Helen Meuth of Kane; and as well as numerous loving aunts,uncles, cousins, friends and professional colleagues that all made up the wonderful life that he was able to experience.He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Durward "D.B." and Toinette Dixon.Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville.A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11 a.m. Monday at the Holy Ghost Catholic Church in Jerseyville, with Father William Hembrow officiating.Burial will be in the St. Francis Xavier Cemetery in Jerseyville.For those desiring, memorials may be given to three of things that were very dear to Eric; the Jersey Community High School Sports Complex, St. Francis/Holy Ghost Catholic Schools in Jerseyville or to the Edwardsville Neighbors in Need.
