Dorothy Sullivan, 86, died at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, August 30, 2014 on her birthday with her family by her side. She was born August 30, 1928 in Central City, Kentucky the daughter of the late Jim and Elrue (Mercer) Jarvis. She was a nurse’s aide for St. Joseph’s Hospital in Alton. On July 11, 1953 in Tennessee she married James W. Sullivan and he preceded her in death on February 12, 2006.
She is survived by four children; Debbie Stewart (Max) of Godfrey, Jean Campbell (Sid) of Godfrey, Larry Sullivan (Jean) of Bethalto, and Mike Sullivan (Ronda) of Jerseyville, five grandchildren; Jennifer Williams (Ben), Jared Sullivan (Crystal), Rachel Sullivan, Jennifer Standefer, and Tyler Sullivan. Five great grandchildren; Austin Williams, Ella Williams, Kinsey Standefer, Hannah Williams and Brady Sullivan. She was preceded in death by four brothers; Cecil, Howard, Raymond and Roland Jarvis and two sisters; Nellie Holeman and Ruby Riley.
Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until time of funeral service at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 2, 2014 at Gent Funeral Home in Alton with Pastor David Brown officiating. Burial will be at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto.
