Dorothy Mae Seifrit, age 95, of Alton, passed away Sunday, September 13, 2015, at her home with her daughter by her side.
She was born February 4, 1920, in Ft. Morgan, CO, the daughter of Harold and Eleanor (Rosenberg) Auchstatter. She married Clarence Seifrit on April 8, 1938, in Fairmont, West Virginia, and he preceded her in death June 3, 2010.
Mrs. Seifrit had worked for Firestone as a secretary for six years during WWII. She had worked for Owen IL in Fairmont, WV as a secretary as well. She had performed volunteer work with the Red Cross for many years, was active with the League of Women Voters, and was a member of the Eastern Star. Dorothy enjoyed going out with the girls for lunch, and discussing politics.
She is survived by a daughter, Susan (Seifrit) Nickel of St. Peters, MO, formerly of Alton; three grandchildren and their spouses, Larry Nickel, David and Michelle Seifrit, and Stacy Baca; six great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; daughter in law Laura Seifrit; and many friends.
In addition to her husband, Clarence; she is preceded in death by her parents; her step-father, John Bruner; son Jim Seifrit.
Visitation will be Sunday, September 20, 2015, from 4 to 8 pm at Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Godfrey. Burial rites will be provided by the Eastern Star at 6 pm. Funeral Services will be Monday, September 21, 2015, beginning at 10 am in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Tim Pate officiating. Burial will follow at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto.
Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Godfrey is in charge of arrangements.
