Dorothy Eilene Embry

Dorothy Eilene Embry, nee Gilmore, 90, passed away at 12:45 a.m. Friday, January 4, 2013 at V.I.P. Manor in Wood River. She was born December 25, 1922. She married William Robert Embry on July 13, 1941. He preceded her in death. She leaves eight surviving children and their spouses; Carolyn and Ed Howard, Sharon and John Bridgeman, Linda and Paul Lamar, Sandi Wilson, Donna and Dan Kohenky, Rebecca and Terry Doyle, Michael and Debbie Embry, and Thomas and Kim Embry. Also surviving are 22 grandchildren and a sister, Laura Nelson. She also leaves behind her devoted companion of 40 years, James Meisenheimer, who selflessly cared for her the last failing years of her life. She was preceded in death by her son William Embry who died in Vietnam in 1968. Visitation will be from 4:00-8:00 p.m. Monday, January 7, 2013 at Gent Funeral Home in Alton where funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 8, 2013. Pastor Brad Donoho will officiate.
