Dorothy A. Dawson, age 82, went to be with the Lord at 2:45 pm Friday, September 6, 2013 at Rosewood Care Center of Alton.
She was born on April 3, 1931 in Morrisonville, IL the daughter of Edwin and Stella (Vancil) Mason.
Dorothy married Ulus Dawson on April 3, 1955 in Alton, and he preceded her in death on August 2, 2011.
She was a clerk for Honke Pharmacy retiring in 1993 after 35 plus years. She was member of Faith Baptist Church of Godfrey. She enjoyed crocheting, sewing, crafts, baking, and playing the organ in her spare time.
Dorothy is survived by two daughters; Dottie Campbell of Jacksonville, FL, and Kristy and her spouse David Drury of Godfrey, one daughter in law Karen Dawson of Collinsville, IL. eight grandchildren; Travis, Amy, Darby, Brandon, Cydney, Abigail, Callie and Brent, nine great grandchildren; Evan, Presley, Autumn, Madeline, Logan, Laney, Keira, Remi, and Ralph York, four sisters Evelyn (Don) Fletcher of Jerseyville, Alma Jones of Wood River, IL, Audrey (Don) Goodwin of O’Fallon, MO, And Marcella (Floyd) Paul of Shipman.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one son Danny Dawson, one brother Ralph Mason, and three sisters Alta Auten, Ora Palmer, Pearl Gvillo.
Visitation will be September 11, 2013 from 11 am to 1 pm at Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Alton, where funeral services will be conducted at 1 pm with Rev. Tom Olney officiating.
Burial will follow at Valhalla Memorial Gardens, in Godfrey, IL.
