Doris “Tootie” L. Profer, 76, went to be with the Lord at 11:55 am Wednesday, March 19, 2014 at Alton Memorial Hospital with her family by her side.
She was born on April 11, 1937 in Alton, IL, the daughter of Leo W. and Bernice (Carpenter) Quigley.
She married John R. Profer on July 11, 1956 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Alton. He preceded her in death on April 26, 2007.
Doris attended St. Mary’s Catholic School in Alton. She was employed by Olin Brass and Copper as a machinist, retiring in 1999. She enjoyed bingo, watching movies, game night, food and spending time with her family especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She is survived by five children and their spouses, Steve and Nancy Profer of Missouri, Brenda and Richard Vallejos of Kansas, Kim and Tony Bellito of Medora, Bob Profer of Alton and Linda and Mark Gaffney of Wood River; eight grandchildren, Sara, Eric, Dawn, Jason, Jessica, Ashley, Nick and Evan; eight great grandchildren; her siblings and their spouses, Jack and Marilyn Quigley of Holiday Shores, Diane and Bill Glover of Florida and Terry and Betty Quigley of Alton and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and a son, John L. Profer.
Visitation with be from 10 am until services at 12 Noon on Monday, March 24, 2014 at Elias, Kallal & Schaaf Funeral Home in Bethalto with Father Tom Liebler officiating.
Burial will follow at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto.
Memorials may be given to the American Cancer Society.
