Doris June Griffith, 88, died at 2:51 p.m., Sunday, February 7, 2016 at Jerseyville Nursing & Rehabilitation Center.She was born in Carrollton on June 14, 1927, one of five daughters born to Henry & Anna (Bridgewater) Herring.June graduated from Carrollton Community High School, and was a sales clerk at Rudolphs Department Store in Jerseyville for 25 years.She married Max A. Griffith on May 21, 1946 at the home of her sister in Carrollton.  The two lived their entire married lives on farms, beginning their marriage in Greene County until moving to their farm north of Jerseyville in 1961. They remained there for many years until Max's death on Oct. 5, 2004, at which time June moved into Jerseyville.Surviving are two sons & daughters in law, Kenneth & Nancy Griffith and Glen & Sissi Griffith all of Jerseyville; a daughter, Gale Smith of Olathe, Ks.; a daughter in law and her husband, Sherri & John Hutchens of Flora; 10 Grandchildren; 12 Great Grandchildren.In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Kent A. "Albino" Griffith on June 15, 2002; a grandson, Jeffrey Ayres; and four sisters, Lucille Davidson, Mamie Short, Bessie Koster and Goldie Richey.Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville, where funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Thursday.Burial will be in the Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Eldred.June and Max were well know fixtures at all the Jersey Community High School sporting events, so in recognition of the devotion, memorials may be given to the Panther Athletic Club.
