Doris F. Marshall, 91, died at 9:57 a.m. on Monday, January 7, 2013 at Rosewood Care Center in Alton. She was born November 5, 1921 in Alton the daughter of the late Arthur and Evangeline Kersey. She was a member of Godfrey Baptist Church and retired from Olin Corporation. On June 15, 1946 she married William L. Marshall at Cherry Street Baptist Church in Alton. He preceded her in death on January 28, 1983. Doris was a longtime member of Cherry Street Baptist Church where she served on many committees, was very active with the women’s group, sang in the choir and helped with the “Soups On” ministry. She loved playing cards with her friends, taking trips to Branson and in her later years became an avid reader. Her strong faith and love of people was felt by all who knew her. She is survived by one son; Brad Marshall of Alton, nieces, nephews and many friends including special friends; Linda Britt of Edwardsville, Tammy Jordan of Wood River, Patricia Shaw of Jerseyville , Ruth Dotson of Godfrey, and Mary Gross of Godfrey. She was preceded in death by a daughter; Cynthia Marshall-Schumway, one brother; Lester Kersey and one sister; Pauline Schwegel. Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until time of funeral service at 11:00 a.m. at Gent Funeral Home in Alton with Reverend Paul Militzer and Reverend Dr. Glen Greenwood to officiate.
