Doris Ellis

Doris Edna Becker Ellis went to her heavenly home on December 24, 2016. She was born to George Becker Jr. and Eulah Draper Becker on November 27, 1921. She was born and raised near rural Kampsville, Il. She married Dean Ellis on October 19, 1943 in Iola, Kansas. Dean and Doris were happily married 67 years until his death on October 17, 2011. After graduating from high school she went to St. Louis. Doris worked the small arms ammunition plant. While in St. Louis she went on a blind date and met and married her husband Dean. Dean was in the air force when they were married. She followed him through England, France and Germany with his letters. They were always blacked-out. She always said she had to read between the lines. Doris was very reserved in her nature. When it came to her family though you knew you were very much loved. She really enjoyed her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She always had a smile and a hug for them. Doris was a member of the Church of the Nazarene for 60 years. Doris and Dean had three children: Linda and John Scheffel of Kane; Sheryl and Russell Withrow of Jerseyville; Mark and Yvette Ellis of St. Peters, Mo, They were blessed with 6 grandchildren; 2 step-grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; 2 step-great grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren. Doris was preceded in death by her husband Dean, her father George and her mother Eulah; two brothers: Basil and Herbert. Visitation will be at Alexander & Gubser Funeral Home in Jerseyville on Tuesday, December 27^th from 4-8pm. Funeral services will be at the Jerseyville Church of the Nazarene on Maple Summit Road on Wednesday, December 28^th at 10:00am. Rev. Edwin Retter and Rev. Allen Ebbler will officiate. Burial will be in Kane Cemetery. Memorials can be made to the Church of the Nazarene or Blessings Hospice of Greene County.
