JERSEYVILLE- Donald Wayne Green, 83, died suddenly at 8:01 a.m., Sunday, August 24, 2014 at his residence.He was born in Hazen, Arkansas on July 8, 1931, and one was one of fourteen children born to the late Andrew & Alpha (Roach) Green Sr.Donald worked as a forklift operator at Olin Corp. in East Alton retiring after 31 years of service, and was a loyal and dedicated member of the former Jerseyville Moose Lodge. He enjoyed watching the St. Louis Cardinals and a good western movie, and in the last couple years began attending Eastland Baptist Church in Jerseyville.Surviving are his son, Wayne Green of Jerseyville; a grandson, Derric Green of Carrollton; a great grandson; a brother, Ralph Green of Kane; and two sisters, Thelma Rayls of Jerseyville, and Carolyn Green of Phoenix, Az.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Leslie E. Green on Aug. 8, 1987; four sisters, Dorothy Stokes, Helen Green, Viola King, Mildred Peoples; and six brothers, Marion, Leslie, Walter, Raymond, Adrian & Calvin Green.Visitation will be from 10 a.m., Thursday until time of funeral services at 12 noon at the Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville. Rev. John Gibson will officiate.Burial will be in the Oak Grove Cemetery in Jerseyville.Memorials may be given to the Eastland Baptist Church in Jerseyville.
