Donald Lee McElroy Sr., 77, died Sunday, October 4, 2015 at St. Lucie Medical Center in Port St. Lucie, FL. Born January 28, 1938 in Alton, he was the son of J.V. and Cornelia (Coates) McElroy. He retired as a Master Mechanic from Bridgestone/Firestone after almost 35 years of service. On November 29, 1991 he married the former Anna Belle Todd. She survives. Also surviving is a daughter, Diana Dawn Barks (John) of Brighton, one son, Donald L. McElroy Jr. (Lynn) of Brighton, a step-daughter, Tina Kee-Lillis (Vince Lillis) of Tampa, FL, and a step-son, Conrad S. Kee II of Salt Lake City, Utah, two grandsons, Cody Lee and Jakob McElroy, two step-grandson, Adam and Ethan Kee, one step-granddaughter, Ashley Stoeckel, one step-great granddaughter, Kendra Nicole Stoeckel, and his former wife Judy McElroy of Brighton. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by a step-son, Leland H. Kee, four brothers, Glenn, John, Charles and Gene McElroy, and three sisters, Lucille Slanker, Edith Beets, and Adalia McElroy. He will be sadly missed by family, nieces, nephews and friends. Visitation will be from 2:00-6:00 p.m. Sunday, October 11, 2015 at Gent Funeral Home and continue from 10:00 a.m. until time of funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Monday, October 12, 2015 also at Gent Funeral Home. Pastor Gary Coates will officiate. Burial will be at Upper Alton Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a charity of choice.
