Donald Hodapp

Donald F. “Don” Hodapp, 81, passed away 7:57am on Sunday, October 4, 2015, in the emergency room at Franklin Hospital in Benton, Illinois. He was born on July 28, 1934, in Carlyle, Illinois, the son of the late Walter and Elizabeth (Kohlbrecher) Hodapp. He married the former Judith A. “Judy” Trice on October 15, 1960, in Alton and she survives. Other survivors include three daughters and two sons in law: Linda Hodapp of Bethalto, Starla and Dave Germeroth of Alton, Deanna and Brad Zercher of Mackinaw, Illinois, two grandchildren: Sarah Ehler, Rickey Hayes, and two great grandchildren: Bryce Ehler and Braelynn Ehler. He is also survived by two sisters and a brother in law: Helen Hollenkamp of Carlyle, Marilyn and Eddie Miller of Carlyle, and one brother: Clarence Hodapp of Carlyle.

Don was formerly employed by the United Ironworkers Local 392 for over 30 years prior to his retirement. He loved camping, fishing, and model trains. He enjoyed traveling and going on scenic railway trips. He was of the Catholic faith.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers: Walt Hodapp and Robert Hodapp.

In celebration of his life, visitation will be from 4pm until time of funeral services at 6:30pm on Wednesday, October 7, 2015, at Pitchford Funeral Home in Wood River.

Memorials are suggested to the American Heart Association and will be accepted at the funeral home.
