Dolores Kuhn

Dolores A. (Weber) Kuhn, 90, passed away at 1:39 pm Monday, April 15, 2013 at the Bethalto Care Center in Bethalto, IL with her family at her side.

 

She was born on January 19, 1923 to the late Ben J. and Caroline (Johnson) Athmer.

Dolores married Harry R. Weber on August 28, 1943 and he preceded her in death on November 8, 1979. She married Norbert Kuhn on July 19, 1986 and he preceded her in death on February 6, 2007.

She was employed as a Nurse’s assistance for over 25 years at St. Anthony’s Hospital. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Alton and a former member of St. Anthony’s Auxiliary in Alton. She loved to bowl, play cards, bingo, and travel. Her greatest joy was spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. 

She is survived by two daughters: Sue and her spouse Jim Schwegel of Godfrey and Linda Aulabaugh of Godfrey, two sons: John Weber of Alton, and Steve and his spouse Carol Weber of Roxana; one sister, Ruth and her spouse Bill Schulte of Red Bud, a sister-in-law, June and her spouse Gene Wilson of Belleville, nine grandchildren and there spouses: Lisa and Mike Heintz, Kathy and Pat Fisher, Julie and Jared Gaffney, Angela Aulabaugh, Doug Aulabaugh, Jake and Brittney Weber, John P. Weber, Brian Weber and Carl Weber; eight great-grandchildren, Andrew, Michaela, Kyle, Izzy, Kailee, Owen, Arlynn, and Jordan, and many nieces and nephews. Also, two special friends: Betty Wuellner and Ruth Bruce. 

A very special acknowledgement and thanks to the Bethalto Care Center and staff for the love, care, and support that they provided to Dolores over the 4 plus years she spent in their care. You truly became extended family to Dolores.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, son, Bruce Weber and a grandson, Alex Weber, and a brother, Art Athmer.

In celebration of her life, visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, April 17, 2013 at Staten-Fine Funeral Home in Alton.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 am Thursday, April 18, 2013 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Alton, Father John Luong OMV celebrant.

Burial will follow at St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Alton.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to: William BeDell ARC, SS Peter and Paul Altar Society, the St. Anthony’s Sisters of Francis of the Martyr of St. George or to a memorial of one’s choice.
