Detlef Phillip Erdel, 53, formerly of Alton, IL died at his residence in Fayetteville, Arkansas. Born May 25, 1960 in Germany. He was the son of Lawrence Vincent & Margaret (Erdel) Cuthbertson. Detlef served in the U.S. Army as a young adult. Shortly after, he ran a successful flooring business for a number of years. Most recently he pursued an education while attending school in Fayetteville, Arkansas for further studies. Surviving are two daughters, Shawna Holtman (Joel) of Shiloh, IL and Kayla Erdel (Steven Middleton) of Chicago, IL and one son Colt Erdel (Carrie) of Alton, IL, and two grandchildren Makhi & Kinley Holtman. He was preceded in death by his parents. Phil would like all family, friends, and anyone he made an impact to, to gather at Gent Funeral Home to honor the memories and great times they have shared with a wonderful friend, father and man. Visitation will be Saturday February 22, 2014 from 4:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. at Gent Funeral home in Alton, IL. Graveside services will be at 1:00 p.m. Monday, February 24, 2014 at Camp Butler Cemetery in Springfield, IL with full military honors.
