Dennis L. Flowers, 64, died suddenly at 12:08 p.m, Sunday, February 22, 2015 in the emergency room at Jersey Community Hospital in Jerseyville.He was born in Grafton on Oct. 7, 1950, and was the son of the late Roy E. & Vera (Hays) Flowers Sr.Denny graduated in 1968 from Jersey Community High School in Jerseyville, and was a jack of all trades carpenter for his adult life, using his skills to assist many members of his family and circle of friends.  He was instrumental in the building of the new Grafton American Legion, and was an active member of the Sons of the Legion , serving as their commander for a number of years.  He loved to be outdoors, and particularly enjoyed mushroom hunting, was an avid gardener, and was most happy when he was hauling his beloved grandchildren around the yard in his 4-wheeler.He married the former Judith (Webb) Chapman on Dec. 31, 1991 in Jerseyville, and the two have shared the past 23 years together.Surviving are his wife, Judy Flowers of Grafton; two daughters & sons in law, Amy & Nathan Harding and Rebecca & Pete Cornwell all of Hartford; two step daughters & their spouses, Melissa & Dean Tepen and Amy & Bryan Shackles all of Jerseyville; seven grandchildren, Taylor Harding, Mallory & Ruby Cornwell, Ashleigh & Drew Tepen, and Emma & Abbie Shackles; three brothers & sisters in law, Darrell Flowers of Las Vegas, Nv., Mike & Sandi Flowers and Richard & Lula Flowers all of Grafton; five sisters & brothers in law, Vera Dean Wood of Louisiana, Mo., Sharon & K.Z. Bowden of Haines City, Fl., Judy & Bill Denother of Alton, Nadine & Kenny Coen of Pine Grove, WV., Betty & Donnie Johnson of Grafton; numerous nieces and nephews, and a brother in law & sister in law, Eddie & Jane Webb of Kirkwood, Mo.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Roy E. Flowers Jr.; and his father in law & mother in law, Analdo & Thelma Webb.Visitation will be from 10 a.m, Saturday until a time of celebration at 2 p.m., at the Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville.   Eddie Calvin will officiate.Cremation rites will take place after the services.In lieu of any flowers and plants, memorials may be given to the family in care of the funeral home.
