Delbert Hise

Delbert Franklin Hise, 90, died at 7:46 a.m. on Thursday, December 20, 2012 at Alton Memorial Hospital. He was born April 26, 1922 in Olmstead, IL the son of the late Thomas Otis and Adie Josephine Hester Hise. He served as a Sergeant in the U.S. Army Air Corps during WWII. He owned and operated Bob and Del’s Service Station in North Alton from 1946-1989. He was a member of the Piasa Masonic Lodge #27 in Alton, where he was a 32nd degree Mason and a member of the Scottish Rite in Belleville. Del also was a member of Shriners Ainad Temple in East St. Louis and the Alton Optimist Club. On October 24, 1942 in Baltimore, MD he married Pauline M. “Polly” Bumbledare and she preceded him in death on September 16, 2011. He is survived by two daughters; Saundra “Soni” Sers (Joseph) of Stafford, VA and Sherry R. Mancewicz of Godfrey, two sons; Thomas D. Hise (Margaret) of Blaine, MN and Kenneth L. Hise (Patti) of Belleville, six grandchildren; Shawn Hise (Megan) of Blaine, MN, Bradley Hise of Blaine, MN, Elizabeth Brennan (Billy) of St. Louis, Stephanie Sers of Natchitoches, LA, Joseph and Jacob Mancewicz of Godfrey. He was preceded in death by one brother; Herman Hise and four sisters; Evelyn Carter, Lois Edwards, Helen Plumlee and Agnes Hise and one grandson, Matthew Sers. Visitation will be Sunday, December 23, 2012 from 2:00 p.m. until time of funeral service at 5:00 p.m. at GENT Funeral Home with Father Jerry Wickenhauser to officiate. Burial will be private.
