David Edward Clark, 66, died at 11:05 p.m. Wednesday, October 8, 2014 at his home in Alton. Born June 21, 1948 in Alton, he was the son of Harry Wilson and Mary Louise (Hughes) Clark. He served in the U.S. Army in Vietnam from 1970-1972. While in the service he earned six medals including a Bronze Star and an Air Medal in 1972. He retired from the Alton Street Department.

Surviving are two sons, David Clark (Angela) of Glen Carbon, and Michael Clark of Arnold, MO, a daughter, Deanna Walter (Todd) of Troy, IL, five grandchildren, Madeline, Ben, and Ethan Walter and Zachary and Joshua Clark, and a sister, Denise E. Stamper of East Alton.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation will be from 4:00-8:00 p.m. Monday, October 13, 2014 at Gent Funeral Home in Alton where funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, October 14, 2014. Reverend Steve Rice will officiate. Burial will be at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis, MO.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
