David C. Hartwell, age 49, of Alton, passed away at 1:34 P.M. Saturday, February 4, 2017 at Barnes Jewish Hospital.
He was born June 6, 1967, in Alton Illinois and was the son Leon Ross and Helen (Strader) Manka.
David married Dana (Rives) Jenkins on October 1, 2011 in Godfrey Illinois. David and his wife owned Toda’z DJ’s, he also worked at Karaoke Plus, cooked and bartended at Riverbend Billiards, sang with Fine Line and City Limits, and also was a member of Enjoy Church.
He is survived by his mother; Helen Manka, wife Dana Hartwell; four children, Jerome (Jackie Hays) McCauly of Bethalto, David “Meryan” Jenkins of Jerseyville, John Jenkins of Jerseyville, and Jason Bland; two grandchildren, Linkoln McCauley and Paije Bland; sister Sherry Ventress; half brother Steven Ross; three nephews Jason Lee Ventress, Shawn Ventress, and Devon Hartwell; a niece Brooke Corringan; step mother Nancy Ross; his uncles and aunts, Terry and Gima Strader and Bud and Vivian Strader; cousin Amanda Carmena.
He is preceded in death by his father; Leon Ross; late wife, Debra (Turner) Hartwell; one brother Richard Hartwell; grandparents Herman and Elsie Strader.
Visitation will be from 10 am until time of service at 11 am, Thursday, February 9 , 2017 at the Elias, Kallal & Schaaf Funeral Home in Alton, IL.
Burial will take place at Rose Lawn Memory Garden in Bethalto.
Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association or National Kidney Foundation.
