Daniel C. Pace Sr., 83, died at 10:05 p.m. at his home Saturday April 25, 2015. Born April 1, 1932 in Alton, he was the son of and last surviving child of William Clarence and Arvie (Crick) Pace.  Mr. Pace served in the Army during the Korean War and was a lifetime member of the VFW Post 1308.  He was active in veteran’s programs at Senior Services Plus and was a member of the Community Christian Church.  Mr. Pace retired in 1994 as superintendent of Public Works for the City of Alton after 30 years of service.  On July 14, 1951 he married the former Alice J. Winters in Pocahontas, AR.  She survives.  Together they visited and entertained at Adult Daycare and the Senior Houses of Beverly Farm where they were known as “sweet thing and grumpy.”  Along with his wife he is survived by a daughter, Trina Mills (Larry) of Parker, AZ, three sons, Daniel Pace Jr. (Patty) of Godfrey, John Pace (Rhonda) of Eureka, MO,  and Mark Pace (Brenda) of Carrollton, IL, six grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his parents and four brothers, Jessie and John Pace and 2 in infancy, and two sisters, Dessie Knapp and Shirley Summers.  Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until time of funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday April 29, 2015 at Gent Funeral Home in Alton with Reverend Dave Burger to officiate.  Burial will be private at Upper Alton Cemetery with full military honors by VFW Post 1308.  Memorials may be made to Community Christian Church or the Veteran’s Organization at Senior Services Plus.  Online guestbook and information may be found at www.gentfuneralhome.com
