Christopher Gettings

Christopher Lee Gettings, 36, of Wood Heights, Mo., and formerly of the Grafton area, died at 1:00 a.m., Saturday, February 4, 2017 as a result of injuries sustained in a house fire. He was born in Jerseyvile on July 30, 1980, and attended Jerseyville schools.In his teen years, he moved with his family to Windsor Locks, Ct., where he was employed in the maintenance department at Bradley Bowl.  After a few years there, he returned back to Illinois and eventually settled near his family in the Kansas City, Mo. area.He is survived by his parents, Ernie & Becky Gettings of Excelsior Springs, Mo., and Linda Douglas of Lawson, Mo.; three sons, Tyler Medford of Excelsior Springs, Mo., Isaiah Gettings and Liana Gettings both of East Hartford, Ct.;  two brothers & a sister in law, Brian and Amber Gettings of Lawson, Mo. and Shawn Douglas of Jerseyville; a sister, Kimberly Minner of Wood Heights, Mo; and grandmother, longtime Jersey County resident, Connie Gettings of Excelsior Springs, Mo.He was preceded in death by a brother, Steven Minner; a niece, Zoe Gettings; and his grandparents, Leroy Gettings and Jack & Ramona "Ronnie" Abbott.Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, February 9, 2017 at the Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville, where funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m, Friday February 10, 2017.   Tom Foster Jr. will officiate.He will be laid to rest in the Noble Cemetery in Otterville.Memorials may be given to a fund for his children in care of Crawford Funeral Home.
