Charles Depper

Charles William Depper, Jr., 81, passed away 8:55 a.m Saturday, April 11, 2015 at OSF St. Anthony's Health Center in Alton.

Born in Alton on February 23, 1934, he was the son of Charles E. Sr. and Lillian G. (Wyman) Depper.

He had been a crane operator for the Olin Corporation, 47 years before retiring.  He then worked as a security guard for the Bowman Agency.

A Korean War army veteran, he was a member of the Machinists Union in East Alton, the Westerner Club and Illinois Sheriff's Association.

On August 9, 1963 in Alton, he married the former Shirley Ann Lawrence.  She died February 11, 2015.

Surviving are two sons, Roger Williamson of Florida, Steven M. Depper of Missouri; two daughters, Penny A. Depper of Bethalto, Dorothy (Greg) Woolsey of Jerseyville; five grandchildren; two great grandchildren; three brothers, Jack (Diane) Depper of Tennessee, Larry Depper of Alton, Ronnie (Judy) Depper of Cottage Hills; and six sisters, Rose Moore of East Alton, Nancy Christian of South Roxana, Peggy hamby of Cottage Hills, June (Greg) Simmons of Missouri, Rebecca Walker of Arizona, Anita Depper of Wood River.

Preceding in death were his parents; wife; two sons, Charles W. Depper, III, Dwight Williamson; and grandson, Jaxon Tyler Depper.

Visitation will be from 12 noon until time of service at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Marks mortuary in Wood River.  Rev. Bob Beloit will officiate.

Private burial will be in Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery.
