Charles L. Bickett, 78, passed away Monday, August 12, 2013, in Cottage Hills.

He was born in Morganfield, KY, on March 6, 1935, the son of the late James Earl and Margaret C. (Miller) Bickett.

Charles retired April 1, 2000, from Olin Corporation in East Alton after 24 years of service. He was a member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Alton, a member of Moose Lodge No. 951, a member of Alton Eagles No. 254, Franklin Masonic Lodge No. 25, and a 32nd degree Mason of Scottish Rite Bodies.

He married the former Wanda Joan Douglas of Alton in 1959 and they divorced in 1974. He married Joyce Sue Kelly in 1978 and they divorced.

He is survived by a daughter, Catherine Ann Davis of Virden, IL; two grandchildren, Kory Davis and Candice Davis and her fiancé Toby Butler,  one great-grandson, Wesley Davis; three former step-children, Michael and Patrick Kelly, and Sherry Davis; former step-grandchildren, Stephen Johnson, Skyler Kelly and Michaela Hubbard, Aiden Davis, Samantha, Sydney and Nicholas  Kelly; nine brothers and sisters, James Earl, Edward Vitalis, Wallace Augustus, Hugh Phillip, Benjamin Peter, and Aaron Joseph Bickett, Margaret Ann Bard, Julia Orenduff, and Alice Faye Higgs.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters, Mary Eugenia Pierson, Jane Miller, and Rose Shureck; a brother, Joseph Donald Bickett; a son-in-law, Kenneth Davis.

Visitation will be from 9 am until time of funeral services at 11 am Thursday, August 15, 2013 at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Alton with Fr. David Boase.

Burial will be private.

In Lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Alton.
