Carolyn Yvonne Eddington, 74, died at 5:16 AM, Tuesday, January 8, 2013, at Saint Anthony’s Hospital in Alton, with her family by her side.
She was born August 9, 1938, at Flat Rock, Casto Township, Shannon County, Missouri to the late Clifton William and Genevieve Virginia (Dorman) Cooper.
The eldest of six; she moved with her family to a farm west of Brighton in 1954. She was a member of the first graduating class of Southwestern High School in 1956.
She married Stanley O. Eddington, July 9, 1959, in Paragould, Arkansas. He survives.
Prior to the birth of her children, she was employed as a bookkeeper with Owens-Illinois, Millers Mutual, and Mississippi Lime Company. She was a homemaker who showed great love and dedication to her children and family. Among her many interests was a love of traveling, sewing, reading, working with her flowers, and participating in family campouts. She was a member of the Prince Road Church of Christ in Alton.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by two daughters, Shelly Eddington of Charleston, Sherry Eddington of Godfrey; a son and daughter-in-law, Stanley and Julia Eddington of Brighton; three grandchildren, Lauren (Jason) Lawson, Emily (Kevin) Kwas, and Joshua Eddington; and one great-grandchild, Jace Michael Lawson; two sisters and brothers-in-law Betty and Rick Meyers of Peoria, Debra and Rich Hawley of Creve Coeur, Illinois; three brothers and sisters-in-law Donald and Vivian Cooper of Peoria, Bill and Kathleen Cooper of Brighton, and Bob and Toni Cooper of Spokane, Missouri.
Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until time of services at 12:00 p.m., Saturday, January 12, at Targhetta and Wooldridge Funeral Home in Brighton, with Dave Hartman officiating.
Burial is in Brighton Cemetery.
