Carol J. Reilly, 79, died at 9:25 a.m. Monday, December 8, 2014 at Hospice House in Sun City Center, Florida. Born November 17, 1935 in Roodhouse, IL, she was the daughter of Charles “Bill” and Marie Elizabeth (Vinyard) Martin. Carol graduated from St. Joseph Nursing School in Alton in June 1956 as a Registered Nurse. She worked as Director of Nursing at Eldercare Nursing Home for 25 years. She then worked for Ursuline Convent in Alton for three years retiring in 1997. She was a member of the P.E.O. Sisterhood Chapter JZ, former President of the State Geriatric Nursing Association and was a member of the Sun City Center United Methodist Church. She loved to garden and loved being a mother and grandmother. On June 8, 1957 she married William J. Reilly. He preceded her in death on November 11, 1985. Surviving is a daughter, Mary Reilly (Paul Sheehan) of St. Louis, MO, a son, John Reilly (Kelly) of Godfrey, two grandchildren, Erin Marie Reilly and Abigail Clare Reilly, her beloved companion of 17 years, Tom Wisely of Sun City Center, FL, and his children, Tomi Scantlebury (David) of Houston, TX, John Wisely (Donna) of Hoffman Estates, IL, and Joshua Wisely (Christy) of Evanston, IL, and grandchildren, Caroline, Alexander, Payton, and Talia. Also surviving are two brothers, Ronald Martin (Carol) of Roodhouse, IL, and Dan “Joe” Martin (Mary) of Shirley, IL. Visitation will be from 4:00-7:00 p.m. Friday, December 12, 2014 at Gent Funeral Home in Alton where funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 13, 2014. Reverend Tim Pate will officiate. Burial will be at Fernwood Cemetery in Roodhouse.
