Betty L. Hessenauer , 88, passed away at 3:52 am Sunday, December 8th 2013 at the Meridian Village in Glen Carbon.
She was born on August 19th 1925 in Alton, IL, the daughter of the late Gertrude (Page) Hessenauer Riggi House and Frank Hessenauer Sr., and a step-father Claude House.
Betty worked for Olin Corporation in East Alton for 51 years before her retirement in 1993. She enjoyed Cardinal baseball, and spending time withher nieces and nephews taking them shopping and bowling. She also enjoyed taking bus tours in her younger days and playing the lottery.
Betty is survived by four nephews: Tom Crismon of Louisville, Texas, Michael Hardesty of Godfrey, Gary Carter of Murphysboro, IL, and Scott Hessenauer of Anaheim, California; four nieces: Marcia Ruyle of Staunton, Claudia Merwin of Marysville, California, Lori Postof Yuba, California and Carla Taylor of Corona, California and many grand nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Frank Hessenauer Jr., three sisters: Dorothy Hardesty, Marjorie Crismon, and Joan Carter: a niece, Patricia Bloodworth.
Visitation will be from 1:00 pm on Thursday, December 12th, 2013 at Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Bethalto, IL up until the time of service at 2:00 pm with Pastor Thomas R. Liebler officiating.
Entombment will be at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto, IL.
