Betty L. Broadway, age 86, passed away at 11:40 am, on Saturday, December 6, 2014 at Eunice Smith Nursing Home in Alton, IL.
She was born on July 26, 1928 in Kane, IL, the daughter of William Ross and Lillian (Burton) Greenwood.
She married William T. Broadway on September 15, 1949 in Kane, IL. He passed away on October 21, 2010.
Betty was a Registered Nurse and had previously worked at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Alton and then retired from Alton Memorial Hospital in 1996. She was a member of the Bethalto United Methodist Church, where she was an active member of the Women’s Society and MOPS (Mothers of preschoolers). She enjoyed gardening, traveling, cruises, visiting Disney World with her family, crafts and crocheting.
She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, David & Gayla Broadway of St. Charles, MO; a son-in-law, Larry Forehand of Rosewood Heights; four grandchildren and their spouses, Keith & Alyssa Broadway and Kyle & Kristen Broadway, Amy & Andrew Weaver and Julie Forehand; three great grandchildren, Katie Beth, Jake and Tessa Lynn and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a daughter, Dorothy Lynn Forehand and her siblings, Cordelia Grizzle, Kenneth Greenwood, Edith Greenwood, Bea Hoff, Carol Alexander, Margaret Grizzle, Shirley Ballard, Imogene “Jeanie” Brown and Glen Greenwood.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 pm on Tuesday, December 9, 2014 at Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Bethalto. Funeral services will be at 10 am on Wednesday, December 10, 2014 at the funeral home with Rev. Dr. Joe Richard officiating.
Burial will follow at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto.
