Betty J. Dietel

Betty J. Dietel, 86, died at 10:41 a.m. Friday, February 8, 2013. Born June 8, 1926 in Alton, she was the daughter of Herman W. and Irene C. (Koehne) Mansholt. She worked as a secretary for J. & A. Springman in Godfrey, as well as Dean Witter Reynolds, and Edward Jones. In June 1945, she married Gunther Bruno Dietel in Alton. He preceded her in death in September 1978.

Surviving is a daughter and son-in-law, Nancy Dietel and Philip C. Butler of Alton, five grandchildren, James, Stephanie, James, Danny, and Megan, four great-grandchildren, Jacob, Joshua, Jaxson, and Jace. She was preceded in death by her husband and a son, Dale Dietel.

Private services will be held at Gent Funeral Home in Alton.

Reverend Steve Rice will officiate. Burial will be at Valhalla Memorial Park in Godfrey.
