Betty C. Strickland, 90 of St. Louis, Missouri, died at 5:45 a.m. on Sunday, October 5, 2014 at Village North Rehabilitation and Nursing in St. Louis, Missouri. She was born on August 1, 1924 to the late Harrison O. & Henrietta W. (Klaren) Byers.
Betty married the late Irvin Strickland on October 6, 1946 in Wichita, Kansas. Irvin died on February 27, 2013.
Betty was a homemaker who loved to knit, sew and do other needlework projects. She and Irvin liked to travel, but their favorite destination was Wichita, Kansas to visit family. Betty had a kind heart and gentle soul.
Survivors are one daughter and son-in-law; Julie and Jim Kramer of Brighton, one son; Bill and Linda Strickland of Ballwin, Missouri, three grandchildren; Russ & Andrea Kramer, John & Jaime Strickland and Kate & Micah Mayfield, four great grandchildren and two sisters; Doris Lestishen of Hutchinson, Kansas and Kay Bell of Westminster, Colorado.
Preceded in death by a brother; Don Byers and one great grandson.
Betty’s wishes were to be cremated. No services will be held. The cremains of Betty and Irvin will be interred together in Wichita, Kansas, where they lived until Irvin was transferred to St. Louis in 1962 for his job at Trans World Airlines.Memorial donations may be made to Alzheimer’s Association or a charity of your choice.Targhetta & Wooldridge Funeral Home in Brighton is in charge
