Barbara Meyer, 67, passed away 9:52 p.m. Friday, April 3, 2015 at Alton Memorial Hospital.
Born in Alton on November 12, 1947, she was the daughter of Raymond Wayne and Elizabeth (Nation) Gurley.
She had been the head cook at the canteen for the Olin Corporation before retiring in 2009.
She is survived by three sons, Jerry Clark of Cottage Hills, James (Deborah) Godwin of Centralia, Curtis Kent of East Alton; a daughter, Constance (Dave) Overton of Wood River; eight grandchildren; two brothers, Lowell Gurley of IL and Joe Purcell of Alton.
Preceding her in death were her parents; two brothers, John and Jim Gurley; and two sisters, Marcella Smith and Maggie Barrett.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until time of service at 11 a.m. on Thursday at Marks Mortuary in Wood River. Pastor Jonathan Absher will officiate.
Burial will follow in Upper Alton Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to Shriner's hospital for Children.
