Arthur 'Art' Garland, 76, passed away 7:36 p.m. Thursday, January 2, 2014 at Blu-Fountain Manor in Godfrey.
Born in Macoupin County on September 23, 1937, he was the son of Roy M. and Lois (Wright) Garland.
He had worked at Laclede Steel before retiring.
On June 8, 1956 in East Alton, he married the former Carol Lilley. She died April 11, 2001.
Surviving are a son, Arthur (Kim) Garland of Medesto; two daughters, Patricia (Ross) Huff of Bethalto, Vanessa (Bill) Boyd of Godfrey; five grandchildren, Adam Huff, Philip (Gina) Huff, Adair Keene, Nate Garland, Jasmine Boyd; three great grandchildren, Murphy and Justin Ethington, Thione Huff; four brothers, Donald Garland of Bethalto, Michael Garland of Brighton, Norman Garland of St. Charles, MO, James dike of Kentucky; and two sisters, Joyce McIintire of Alton and Sandra Peuterbaugh of Wood River.
A memorial visitation will be held from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday at Marks Mortuary in Wood River.
A Memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Bethalto Church of God. Pastor Jeremy Robinson will officiate.
