Almeta M. Colbert, 81, died at 10:12 a.m., Saturday April 14, 2012 at Jersey Community Hospital.
Almeta was born in Grafton, Illinois on April 30, 1930 to the late Floyd “Casey” Cope of Otterville, Illinois and Leona Lucille Fitts of St. Charles, Missouri. She was preceded in death by her sister Barbara Barna of Spanaway, Washington. She is survived by her sister, Cleora Poorman and her husband of Eatonville, Washington; her daughter, Donna Colbert of Grafton, Illinois; her son, David Colbert of Puyallup, Washington; her daughter, Delores Karthauser and her husband, Gene, of Engle Wood, Florida;
She has 5 grandchildren, Lisa Clark and husband, Tom of Gulfport, MS; Brian “Sonny” McDonald and wife, Lisa of Grafton, Illinois; Marlee Miller and husband, Mel of Buckley, Washington, Robin Colbert of Puyallup, Washington; and Kate Colbert of Puyallup, Washington and 9 great-grandchildren.
Almeta retired from Alter Barge Line after working 27 years as a towboat cook.
A celebration of life gathering will be held at the Grafton American Legion at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday June 16, 2012. We all love you mom and we will miss you.
