Ada Garner

Wood River |

Ada Mae Garner, 94, of Wood River, IL, died at 11:59 a.m. Fri. June 5, 2015 at Eunice Smith Nursing Home in Alton, IL.

She was born May 12, 1921 in Eldorado, IL to the late Robert & Susie (Bishop) Farmer.

On Feb. 14, 1938 she and Leland I. Garner were married in Eldorado.  They were married for 72 years before he preceded her in death on May 12, 2010.

Mrs. Garner was a homemaker and was an accomplish seamstress and quilter.  She also loved to garden and collect porcelain dolls.

Survivors include: 3 daughters, Linda Henson, Beverly Barbre & Joy Dean all of Bethalto,IL, 5 grandchildren, Michael Barbre of CO, James Barbre of Bethalto, Stephen Henson of East Alton, IL, and Debbie Dean and Dian Miller of Wood River and 12 great-grandchildren.

Besides her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a brother and 4 sisters.

Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Mon. June 8, 2015 at Paynic Home for Funerals where services will be at 10:00 a.m. Tues. June 9, 2015 with Rev. Earl Gillett officiating.  Burial will follow at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens. 

Memorials may be made to BJC Hospice or Charity of Choice.
