Karen Ann Taylor, age 65, of Alton, passed away Friday, December 19, 2014, at her home.

She was born July 17, 1949, in St. Louis, MO, the daughter of Thomas and Geraldine (Galloway) Swift. Mrs. Taylor was a Field Merchandising Manager with Ingram Entertainment and had a lifelong love of movies. She is also a famous Alton “Witch” having participated in many Alton Halloween Parades over the years. Their floats won first place many times and her personal creativity and artful design were instrumental.

She is survived by a son, Mat Taylor of Alton; her mother, Geraldine Morgan of Greenville, IL; a sister and brother-in-law, Jenny and Bob Donton of Florrissant, MO; a brother, John Morgan of Greenville, IL; her ex-husband, Robert Taylor of Alton; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Karen is also survived by her “witch” sisters, Becky Allen of Godfrey, Shirlee Kauble of St. Louis, Mary Ellen Schwaab of Godfrey, Sue Logsdon of South Roxana, Connie Bond of Fosterburg, Vicky Kelly of Bethalto, and Sheila Segraves of Elsah. Her son, Mat, has always fondly referred to himself as the son of “witch”.

She is preceded in death by her father; and a brother, Randy Swift.

Visitation will be held Saturday, January 3, 2015, from 10:00 am until Noon, at Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Godfrey.

A private family burial will be held at a later date.

Memorials may be made to Five A’s Animal Shelter.

Elias, Kallal & Schaaf Funeral Home in Godfrey has assisted the family with arrangements.
