Norma J. Hanks, 76, passed away at 3:20pm on Friday December 12, 2014, at VIP Manor in Wood River, with her family by her side.
She was born on June 25, 1938 in Alton, IL the daughter Mary (Porter) McDonald.
Norma worked at Owens Illinois Glass as a Selector. She was a hard working woman who enjoyed country music, enjoying the outdoors sitting on her glider, and being the loving, caring mom she was, loved spending time with her grandchildren.
Norma is survived by two daughters Debbie and Robert Lish of Rosewood Heights, and Kim Garrett of Alton; one son, Alan Hanks of Gillespie, IL; seven grandchildren, Nikki Garrett, Dulcie and David Cargill, A.J. and Allana Hanks, and Aaron and Kassie French; nine great grandchildren, Koby, Lexie, Jayda, Tremain, Zane, Trey, Avery, Amani, and Isabella; two sisters, Joyce Hausman, and Kaye Ivester; and many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her mother; a brother Jim McDonald; a great grandson, Zander French; a close cousin, JoAnn Sydall; and two nephews.
Visitation will be from 4:00pm to 8:00pm on Monday December 15, 2014 at Elias, Kallal & Schaaf Funeral Home in Alton. Funeral service will be at 11 am on Tuesday December 16, 2014 at Elias, Kallal & Schaaf Funeral Home in Alton, with Chaplain Kip Knavel officiating.
Burial will follow at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens.
Memorials can be made in lieu of flowers to the family for final expenses.
