Jeffrey Higgins, devoted husband and loving father, 59, passed away on Saturday, November 22, 2014, at 7:00 p.m. in Cape Girardeau, MO. Jeff was born October 27, 1955, in St. Louis, MO. He was the son of the late Danny Higgins and the late Clare Finck (Neunaber). He was a member of the Alton-Godfrey Rotary Club, IBEW 649, The Greater Gateway Board of Realtors, The Hackers Golf Group, Alton Eagles Fraternity, Godfrey First United Methodist Church, and the Alton-Wood River Sportsman’s Club of Godfrey. He was the owner of Higgins Electrical where he worked as an electrician, and former owner of Century 21 House Center where he worked as a real estate broker. He married Debbie (Lagemann) Higgins on March 20, 1985, in Las Vegas, NV, with all their families present. They had one child, Amanda Higgins, on June 20, 1986.

Jeff enjoyed motorcycle riding, golfing, particularly his annual “Hackers Golf Trip”, “geocaching”, and spending time with family and friends; especially his Ireland traveling companions: Dennis and Karen Wilson, and Bill and Kathy Wiehe. His long list of dear and loving friends are too numerous to mention. In addition to his wife and daughter he is survived by: his stepfather, Fred Finck of Godfrey; sister, Casey (Finck) Martin of Arkansas; two step-brothers, Charlie Finck and Jess Finck of Granite City; a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Jeff and Stacy Lagemann of Godfrey; and their children, Barrett and Reagan Lagemann. He is also survived by his loving canine companion, Asti, and the “little brown cat,” Heidi.

Visitation will be from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. on Friday, November 28, 2014, at Gent Funeral Home in Alton, where visitation will continue from 9:00 a.m. until time of service at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 29, 2014, with Reverend Don E. Long Jr. officiating. Burial will be private. Memorials may be made to Stray Rescue of St. Louis and Godfrey First United Methodist Church.
