Kenneth Cannedy

Kenneth Lee Cannedy, 78, passed away 3:40 p.m. Friday, November 21, 2014 at St. Clare's Extended Care Center in Alton.

Born in East Alton on January 3, 1936, he was the son of Kent and Henrietta (Rapp) Cannedy. Along with he cousin, Don Blake, he was raised lovingly by Bill and Hattie Swan.

Kenny had been a crew leader for Owens-IL Glass for 30 years before retiring.  He had served as a Board Member of Altonized Federal Credit Union, was as life-long Cardinal baseball fan, and was very active in the East Alton Baseball clubs.

His faith, family and church were most important to him, bringing up four sons, Steven (Sarah) Cannedy of Marietta, GA, Don Cannedy of Wood River, Roy (Kathy) Cannedy of Brookfield, WI, David (Robin) Cannedy of Green Bay, WI; six grandchildren; brother Jack (Hazel) Cannedy of Ellisville; sister, Eva Faye Zeissett of East Alton; a loving special friend, Bonnie Stone.

Preceding in death were his parents; former wife, Shirley (Benton) Cannedy; brother, Orville Cannedy; sister, Pat Provow.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday at Marks Mortuary in Wood River, where services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Wednesday.  Rev. Richard Newcom will officiate.

Burial will follow in Valhalla Memorial Park in Godfrey.

Memorials may be made to Whitelaw Ave. Baptist Church, where he had been a member.
