Edward E. Schmidt, 91, of East Alton, IL, died at 5:37 p.m. Fri. Nov. 21, 2014 at St. Anthony’s Health Center in Alton, IL.
He was born Aug. 2, 1923 in West Alton, MO to the late George & Mary (Stormer) Schmidt.
On June 25, 1960, he married Betty Mabry in East Alton. She preceded him in death on Feb. 12, 2010.
The WWII U.S. Army Air Force veteran served in the European theater and upon his return home worked for Olin Corp, retiring after 42 years of service.
Survivors include: several nieces and nephews, and a brother, Herbert Schmidt of Alhambra, IL.
Besides his beloved wife and parents, he was preceded in death by: a son, Gary Schmidt, a sister, Bertha Mennemeier and 5 brothers, William, Frank, Charles, George & Albert Schmidt.
Visitation will be from 12:30 p.m. until time of services at 1:30 p.m. Tues. Nov. 25, 2014 at Paynic Home for Funerals. Burial will follow at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens.
Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church of Rosewood Heights where he was a member or 5 A’s.
