Forrest Hall

Forrest Watson Hall went home to be with the Lord Thursday, November 13, 2014 at 3:23 p.m. at home with his family. He had been a Christian over 50 years and was ready to be with the Lord. Forrest was born in West End, IL to Noel E. and F. Pauline (Watson) Hall. He was the 4th of 5 sons. He grew up on a small farm and loved to return there each fall for deer season. He married D. Glenda Jones March 28, 1958 in Pilot Knob, MO and together they enjoyed raising a family of five children. He was especially proud of his six grandchildren, two step grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Glenda, and five children, Yvonne Bedwell (Allen), Tim Hall (Kim), Lisa Hall, Tina Lamb (Bob), and Amy Langer (Jason). Grandchildren, Carmen Bedwell Noack, Cortney Bedwell Frosch, Vanessa Moore, Kyle Hovey, Jaden Langer, Arai Langer, Tracy Cusac, and Brian Lamb, along with his great grandchildren. Also surviving is a brother, Maurice Hall of Thompsonville, IL, his sister-in-law, JoAnn Hall of Marion, IL and many nieces and nephews. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Noel “Hud”, Gerald, and Marvin “Bruce” Hall. Forrest served in the U.S. Air Force from 1952-1956 as an aircraft mechanic, specializing on jet engines. He was a Korean War Veteran. After the military he worked in the Civil Service for 31 years, most of which was for the Department of the Army working for AVSCOM, being an advisor on helicopters and aircraft being used by the Army. He served our country in Vietnam during that time and received the Vietnam Civilian Service Medal for his tour from 1967-1968. Forrest loved to serve God. He served as a Deacon and taught many Sunday school classes throughout the years. Later in life he became a Lay Minister for the Southern Baptist Churches in the greater Alton area as a fill in minister. He also served the Church of God in Bethalto where he and Glenda worked in the Senior Ministry, leading Sunday services at both Hillcrest and Skyline Towers. He also led evening services at the Olin home as a private ministry. He and Glenda loved to minister to the Senior Citizens. Visitation will be from 12:00 noon until time of funeral service at 1:30 p.m. Monday, November 17, 2014 at Gent Funeral Home in Alton. Reverend Brad Donoho will officiate.
