Richard Cannedy

Richard E. Cannedy, age 70, of Godfrey, passed away Friday, October 24, 2014, at his home.He was born January 2, 1944, in Alton, the son of Wyman and Clarice (Cope) Cannedy. He married Martha Corrigan on October 11, 1963, in Edwardsville, and she survives. Richard was a lineman with AT&T and also a real estate investor. He was proud of his service with the United States Marine Corp. Reserves. After retiring, he became a licensed taxidermist and operated Willow Lake Taxidermy. He was active in Boy Scouts of America and was the former Scoutmaster of Troop #39 in Brighton.In addition to his wife, Martha; he is survived by two children and their spouses, Todd and Rachel Cannedy of Alton, and Nicole and Jason Barrish of Valparaiso, IN; a brother, Terry Cannedy of Holiday Shores; a mother-in-law, Lorene Corrigan of Jerseyville; a brother-in-law, Leo Corrigan of Alton; five grandchildren, MarthaRose, Sabrina, Sarek, Samuel, and Shepard; and many friends.He is preceded in death by his parents; and a sister-in-law, Vickey Cannedy.Visitation will be held Tuesday, October 28, 2014, from 5:30 until a Celebration of Life service at 6:30 pm at Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Godfrey with Pastor Roger Bruce officiating. Military Burial Rites will be provided by Alton VFW #1308 following the service.Burial will take place at a later date at Valhalla Memorial Park in Godfrey.Contributions may be made to River Of Life Church in Godfrey.
