Antonio Joseph Martinez, 23, passed away at 9:53 am Sunday, October 19, 2014 at his home.
He was born on January 13, 1991 in Alton, IL, the son of Joseph and Brenda (McDuffy) Martinez.
Antonio was a student and a member of Calvary Temple in Alton. He was an Illinois State Champion in figure skating and gymnastics. He trained in karate as a youth and he enjoyed baseball, going to the movies, working with computers and electronics and he had planned on becoming a doctor.
In addition to his parents of Bethalto, he is survived by three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Heather and Carl Davis of Bethalto, Diane Martinez Toro of Granite City and Melissa and Dan Saul of Granite City and a brother, Ryan Smith and his girlfriend, Tammy Oseland of Cottage Hills and his nieces and nephews, Salvador, Nathan, Danielle, Cody, Maria, Salena, Gabriella, Matthew, Avy Day, Jenna, Cole, Keaton and Jessa and many other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be from 11 am until services at 1 pm Friday, October 24, 2014 at Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Bethalto.
Burial will follow at Bethalto United Methodist Cemetery.
