Lawrence Ray Schuetz, age 58, of Brighton, passed away 5:15 am at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis.

He was born July 5, 1956, in Alton, the son of Fred and Frieda (Sivia) Schuetz. He married Mary Anne Terpening on August 19, 1978, and she survives.

Lawrence had worked at Laclede Steel and currently at Alton Steel. He was the owner of Schuetz Small Engine Repair. He was loved by his family and friends and will be greatly missed.

In addition to his wife, Mary Anne; he is survived by parents;  two children, Marty and Christy Schuetz of Alton, and Niki and Billy McIntire of Staunton; a brother, Clinton Schuetz of Brighton; three sisters, Terry Roettgers of Washington, MO, Kathy and Herb Ralston of Bunker Hill, IL, and Susan McAfee and her boyfriend Frank Fox of Bell Flower, IL; five grandchildren, Autumn, Summer, Nickolas, Matthew, and Samantha, who is on the way; and many friends.

He is preceded in death by a grandson, Jeramiah.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 pm on Tuesday, October 21, 2014 at Staten-Fine Funeral Home in Alton.

Funeral service at 11 am on Wednesday, October 22, 2014 at Staten-Fine Funeral Home in Alton with Father William Kessler officiating.

Burial will take place in Rose Lawn Memory Garden in Bethalto.
